Beginnings of our food forest.
My youngest girl and I have decided to grow our own food forest, Eleanor is an avid cook especially of healthy fresh food. Her interest in gardening has sprung from her passion in fresh organic fruit and vegetables. We have a number of old large fruit trees that we are trying to reduce in height over the next few years so that I will be better able to manage them and harvest their fruit. This year one of our peach trees has fruited early and as we harvest we are cutting the limbs off one by one to reduce the height. Here is a picture before we started its haircut. We also celebrated the first cherry tomatoes of the season two days ago and have started a new tradition with them being eaten with goats cheese on crackers just like last year. It has been a slow start to the tomato season and the other crops as the weather has been a bit higgled de pickledy. Part of the plan for our food forest is to also aim to plant something to eat everyday of the year, but I have chosen
